Cheers! Thor’s Tipi Bar signs a Three-Year Deal

Lincoln BIG has announced that Thor’s tipi bar is set to return this Christmas and poised to become an annual city favourite, as it signs a three-year deal.

The pop-up bar, which plays on Lincolnshire’s Viking heritage – is to set-up camp on The Cornhill every November for the festive season over the next three years.

This year, the tipi will be open daily from 10am, from November 9 until December 31 (but closed on Christmas Day).  It will offer a festive experience for Christmas shoppers, weary workers, visitors and families alike.

Two linked canvas tipis will form the bar, which will be festooned with lighting and decked out with wooden tables and benches, cosy furs and an open fire pit, around which customers can soak-up the Viking hygge.

A brand-new drinks menu offers exciting new lagers, pale ales and Guinness, whilst festive favourites such as mulled wine and hot cider will ensure there is something to warm everyone’s cockles.

A new range of flavoured hot chocolates allows kids, big and small, to tailor-make their own drink or adults a sweet hit with a kick, by adding one of our delicious shots such as Salted Karamel Vodka or Rhum Orange! Teas and coffees as well as soft drinks are also available to revive busy shoppers.

One of Lincoln’s favourite street food vendors, The Cheese Cave, will be making its debut at Thor’s with its vintage trailer. Owner of the business, Emma said “We’re delighted to be teaming up with Thor’s tipi bar this winter and can’t wait to bring The Cheese Cave along to serve up some delicious grilled cheese street food to the hungry hordes!

With locally sourced produce and award-winning Sourdough bread from Welbeck bakery, we think our food is perfect for everyone to enjoy around the roaring fires in the tipi and we’re thrilled the Thor’s team think so too!”.

Michael Armstrong Events and Promotions Manager for Lincoln BIG said: “We are thrilled to welcome Thor’s tipi bar back to Lincoln for Christmas and we hope it will form the centerpiece for a whole range of Christmas events from Lantern Parades and Reindeer to Camels and the switching on of the Christmas lights.

The Cornhill Quarter is being beautifully re-developed and this Christmas attraction really enhances the area over this special time.”

Maria Farrugia, Co-Founder of Thor’s added:  “Our first year in Lincoln was a hugely successful one with thousands of shoppers, families and visitors coming to soak up the atmosphere, so we are thrilled that Lincoln has invited us back, not just for this year but until 2020.

“We are also delighted to add a food offering for our customers this year and know that The Cheese Cave toasties will be a real warming treat whilst sitting around the open fire. With so many exciting events taking place around the city again this Christmas, we hope people will come and soak up the spirit of the season under our canvas.  Friends, family and even dogs are welcome.”

Thor’s tipi bar will be open from 10am to 10pm Sundays to Thursdays and from 10am until 11pm Fridays and Saturdays from 9 November through to 31 December 2018 (closed Christmas Day).
